mdremove terms
Terms of Use
These terms explain the rules for using mdremove tools, reports, cleaned downloads, C2PA checks and guides.
Last updated: July 5, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using mdremove, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the website or upload files to the tools.
2. What mdremove provides
mdremove provides utilities for checking file metadata, creating metadata reports, cleaning supported metadata from supported file types and checking C2PA / Content Credentials when present.
Supported formats, features and results may change over time. Some file types, damaged files, unusual exports or unsupported metadata structures may not be fully readable or cleanable.
3. Your files and your responsibility
You keep ownership of files you choose to use with mdremove. By selecting a file, you confirm that you have the right to inspect, process, clean or download a modified copy of that file.
- Keep your own backups before cleaning metadata.
- Review the cleaned file before publishing or sending it.
- Do not upload files you are not allowed to process.
- Do not rely on mdremove as the only review step for legal, journalistic, medical, financial or security-sensitive work.
4. Allowed use
You may use mdremove for lawful personal, editorial, business, educational and security-review purposes. You must use the service responsibly and follow applicable laws.
5. Prohibited use
You agree not to use mdremove to:
- Upload or process unlawful, harmful, exploitative or infringing content.
- Hide evidence of wrongdoing, impersonate others, mislead people or commit fraud.
- Attack, overload, scrape, reverse engineer or bypass protections on the service.
- Upload malware, malicious scripts or files intended to harm the website or other users.
- Use automated systems in a way that degrades the service.
6. Metadata removal limitations
Metadata removal is best-effort and format-dependent. A cleaned file may still contain information that is not recognized, is stored in an unusual place, is embedded in visible pixels/content, is added later by another app, or is recoverable from another copy of the file.
mdremove cannot remove information that is visibly part of the file content, such as text printed on an image, faces, objects, watermarks, redactions done incorrectly, or content that another service adds after upload.
7. C2PA and authenticity limitations
C2PA / Content Credentials can help show signed provenance when a manifest exists and can be read. A missing C2PA manifest does not prove a file is fake. A valid manifest does not prove the real-world truth of the scene. AI/source clues are signals, not final proof.
You are responsible for your own decisions when using metadata, provenance or AI-related signals.
8. No professional advice
mdremove provides technical information. It does not provide legal, forensic, compliance, privacy, security or professional advice. For high-risk decisions, consult a qualified professional.
9. Availability and changes
We may update, pause, remove or change features at any time. We do not guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every file, or available in every location.
10. Third-party services and links
The site may load fonts, libraries or other resources from third parties, and may link to outside websites. We are not responsible for external websites, their availability or their policies.
11. Intellectual property
The mdremove name, website layout, code, original text, graphics and interface elements are owned by mdremove or its licensors. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the website as a competing service without permission.
You retain rights to your own files.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
mdremove is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement and uninterrupted operation.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, mdremove and its owner are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, data loss, lost profits, reputational harm, business interruption, or decisions made based on metadata reports or cleaned files.
14. Termination
We may block, limit or terminate access if the service is abused, attacked, used unlawfully or used in a way that harms mdremove or other users.
15. Contact
For questions about these Terms, contact the site owner through the contact method provided on mdremove.
